 A truly magical Christmas atmosphere
Not sure what to do between Christmas and New Year - treat yourself to one of our Christmas or Twixmas breaks! Here at the Hydro our Christmas programme runs from the 24th December to the 27th and our Twixmas programme runs from 27th December until 30th December 2008.
Enjoy a traditional Christmas in the Countryside. Take a relaxing stroll through the natural surroundings that truly does become a Winter Wonderland. Alternatively, if your feeling the cold, relax in the romantically lit lounges in front of a real log fire!
Christmas Programme
Wednesday 24th December 2008 (Christmas Eve)
Arrive at your leisure during the afternoon and join us for scones and tea by the roaring log fire in the Ballroom. A four course meal will be served between 7 and 8.30pm and it would be appreciated if you could reserve your table on arrival. After dinner our resident entertainer Mr Jimmy Fingers will get the evening going with games and musical entertainment.
Thursday 25th December 2008 (Christmas Day)
Arise to Christmas morning and enjoy a traditional Lakeland breakfast between 8 and 9.30am. Spend the rest of the morning at leisure and then join us for a Sherry before lunch which will be served at 1.00pm.
We are expecting a visit from a rather tired Scandinavian gentleman at some point during lunch. JJ our resident Magician will fascinate you with his close up magic during lunch. The Queens’ speech will be shown in the Ballroom after lunch and this will be followed by an informative talk by local mountain guide Mr John Nettleton.
At 7.00pm a dressed buffet will be served in the Blencathra suite. If you’ve any energy left Jimmy Fingers will entertain you until the wee small hours of Boxing Day
Friday 26th December 2008 (Boxing Day)
Start the day with our hearty Lakeland breakfast and then spend the morning and early afternoon either at leisure or exploring the surrounding countryside. Some of the shops will have started their sales so the ladies may want to partake in some retail therapy (the Lakeland Ltd Sale starts Boxing Day). Or alternatively we have available complimentary tickets for the Aquarium, Windermere Lake Cruises or the World of Beatrix Potter.
Afternoon tea will be served in the Ballroom from 4.00pm where you’ll be able to sit and get a warm around the log fire. A four course dinner will be served between 7 and 8.30pm and again it would be helpful if you could reserve your table in the morning after breakfast.
Then pass the rest of the evening either playing snooker on our full sized snooker table, table tennis and darts or just let Jimmy entertain you.
Saturday 27th December 2008
Unfortunately after another of our fantastic breakfasts it is time to bid you farewell and we hope to see you again.
The price for our Christmas package is £330 per person for the three days to include all the above. The Hydro has its own indoor heated swimming pool, sauna and Jacuzzi. We can offer attractive packages for children but would prefer to quote individually for them as our tariff is dependant on their ages but at the same time we believe offers good value for money.
Twixmas Programme
Saturday 27th December
Arrive at leisure during the course of the afternoon and on arrival afternoon tea will be served in the Ballroom in front of a roaring log fire.
On arrival please ensure you reserve your table for your five course dinner which will be served between 7 and 8.30pm
John Nettleton will present a slide show of the lakes in the Ballroom room. John was the leader of the team that set up Brockhole the Park Authorities Visitor centre on the lake shore. His talks are both informative and fascinating.
Sunday 28th December
Arise and enjoy a traditional Lakeland breakfast which is served between 8 and 9.30 am. The day can then be spent at leisure in the area exploring Bowness and Windermere where there are a number of interesting attractions and shops including the flagship Lakeland Store.
A five course dinner will be served in the evening between 7 and 8.30pm after which our resident Hotel Disco will be in the Blencathra Room from 9.30pm until the early hours.
Monday 29th December
Arise and enjoy a traditional Lakeland breakfast which is served between 8 and 9.30 am. The day can then be spent at leisure in the area. If you need any suggestions for walks, or excursions, Reception have all the information you may need to plan your day.
A five course dinner will be served in the evening between 7 and 8.30pm after which our resident Magician ‘JJ’ will do a cabaret show in the Blencathra Room at 9.00 pm
Tuesday 30th December
Arise and enjoy a traditional Lakeland breakfast which is served between 8 and 9.30 am.
Unfortunately we then have to bid you farewell but hope that you may make a speedy return. Apart from the entertainment detailed above the Hydro also has it’s own 10 metre heated indoor pool, sauna and Jacuzzi, a games room with a full size snooker table, table tennis and darts; sky TV in all rooms and a large selection of games for you to enjoy.
